Several advanced programs are available for gifted students.
QUEST PROGRAM (Academically/Intellectually Gifted)
The Quest Program is designed to develop critical thinking skills, creativity, problem solving abilities and provides extended academic opportunities for academically high-functioning students. The identification process for fourth through eighth graders involves analysis of End-of-Grade scores, report card grades, MAP, and teacher checklists. ArtSpace’s ideals are strongly aligned with those of most gifted programs. The school-wide emphasis on higher level thinking, creativity, and project-based learning encourages students to reach their potential. Opportunities for extension are built into daily, differentiated lessons. The Quest program supplements this by providing in-depth opportunities for advanced students.
Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program which provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Kids apply their creativity to solve problems which range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. Student teams participate in the annual regional tournament.
