A national benchmark in
Educational excellence through integration of the arts

National Junior Honor Society

The motto of the NJHS is Noblesse Oblige which means “to conduct oneself nobly”.

The NJHS was established in 1929, only 8 years after the National Association of Secondary School Principals established the NHS for high school students.  From the beginning, the society has focused on 5 guiding principles: Scholarship, Leadership, Citizenship, Character, and Service.

Membership in the National Junior Honor Society is possible for students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades at ArtSpace Charter School. Membership is not something that students work for, like a goal a person sets out to achieve.  Rather, it is a result, a recognition of the work students have done in their classes and throughout their lives. It is a recognition of their accomplishments in Scholarship, Service, Character, Citizenship and Leadership, in and outside of the school building walls; the trademarks of the individuals who are members of the ArtSpace Charter School Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.
