Our Board of Directors:

As a North Carolina Public School, ArtSpace Charter School (ACS) is not under the jurisdiction of Asheville City or Buncombe County School Districts, but is governed by a nonprofit corporation, Partnership for Art at the Core of Education, Inc. (P.A.C.E., Inc), a 501(c)3. The Executive Director of ACS is hired by and directly reports to the Board of Directors.

(Executive Committee Members first; then in order by election date):

David Arpin, DC – President:
Community Member (Term: December 18, 2007 – December 18, 2010)

• Dr. Arpin has been in private chiropractic practice for 24 years in the Arden area and has served the community on many boards over that time. He has also been involved with the Buncombe County School system for 18 years.

Trevor Carr – Vice President:
Community Member (Term: April, 21, 2009 – April, 21, 2012)

• Trevor is an entrepreneur and executive search consultant with Trevor Carr Inc. For generations both sides of Trevor's family have been involved in the visual or performing arts, education and philanthropy.

Brian D. Henderson, CPA – Treasurer:
Community Member (Term: September 19, 2006 – June 30, 2010 - extended).

• Brian has been a practicing Public Accountant since 1989. He owns an accounting practice in Asheville.

Aaron Johnson – Secretary:
Community Member (Term: November 17, 2009 – November 17, 2012)

• Aaron is the owner of Blue Depth Agency, a marketing and advertising agency serving Western North Carolina.

Robin Allred:
Parent (Term: September 18, 2007 – September 18, 2010)

• Robin is a Teaching Assistant at Claxton Elementary School.

Karen Stobbe: Member: Parent (Term: June 16, 2009 - June 16, 2012)

• Karen is a consultant/trainer in the health care field with a focus on Alzheimer's disease. She also owns SoulShine, a local beeswax candle business and serves as the Conference Chair for a National Conference on Culture Change in health care.

Board Members Needed!

We do need new board members. ArtSpace is still pretty new and not everyone knows of our school or our concept. Since we very much want to develop strong ties with our local communities, we would welcome any individuals who are well established and connected within the Asheville and Black Mountain area communities. Of course, parents are welcome, but you don't have to be a parent to serve. Please contact us for information about how to serve.

Board Meeting

The Board of Directors normally holds meetings on the third Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m.in the technology room (north wing) of the school. Visitors are always welcome!
