BOWS (Boys Outdoor Wilderness Skills) is an 8 week wilderness appreciation program for boys in grades 6-8 and includes an overnight camping trip upon completion. Sessions are held after school and are typically held off campus at sites such as Warren Wilson College, Shopes Creek, or YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly. Specific focus is on wilderness survival and safety skills, environmental stewardship, leave no trace ethics, and eastern plant life. The program also supports the development of team-building skills, self-reliance and personal responsibility.
