Girls On The Run/Track

Girls on the Run is a national program with a mission to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. Girls on the Run is for girls in grades 3,4,& 5 and Girls on Track is for girls in grades 6,7,& 8. Both teams at ArtSpace meet twice a week for one hour and fifteen minutes to one and one half hours to learn about healthy decision making that fosters a positive impact on self, immediate surroundings, and community; then we run!

Girls are guided and encouraged to find their own pace – one that is challenging but not overwhelming. The session ends with a 5K Run – not a race – in which each girl and their running buddy accomplish the goal of completing the run to the best of their ability. We depend on female parent/adult volunteers to work as coaches and running buddies.

If you are interested in volunteering as a coach, please contact Ms. Sue.  For more information about Girls on the Run, visit: www.gotrwnc.org
