The robotics program at ArtSpace is an ever-expanding exploration into the STEAM initiative, primarily through the design and programming of autonomous robots and the exploration of building techniques. Combined with activities such as bridge design, force and motion, and other engineering concepts, students experience cooperative learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving through robotics and related challenges.
Students 5th to 8th grade have the opportunity to become members of the ArtSpace Art-a-Mators and learn about robotics and ‘real-world’ solutions to different yearly challenges through the annual FIRST LEGO League international competition. Team members learn about different challenge situations and create an autonomous robot to solve these challenges. Teams create, build, and present a solution to the problem while exhibiting a spirit of cooperation and good sportsmanship.
ArtSpace Robotics continues with a summer Robotics Camp, which focuses on structural functionality and programming in a variety of exciting and challenging scenarios. Students explore a variety of situations that encourage them to expand their understanding and application of robotic autonomous programming and original construction designs.
