The robotics program at ArtSpace is an ever-expanding exploration into the STEM initiative, primarily through the design and programming of autonomous robots and the exploration of building techniques. New educational opportunities for primary and middle school students support and enhance the Science and Mathematics curricula goals and objectives through ‘hands-on’ activities.
ArtSpace Robotics began with participation in the Asheville FIRST LEGO League competition, where the ArtSpace team won the Programming Award. Participants in the LEGO League take “real world” problems and create an autonomous robot to solve these challenges. Teams create, build, and present a solution to the problem, while exhibiting a spirit of cooperation and good sportsmanship. ArtSpace Robotics continues with a summer Robotics Camp, which focuses on design and programming in a variety of situations.
