Carol Davis (System Administrator/Media Coordinator) was born in Libertyville, IL. Carol spent many of her childhood summers and Christmas vacations in Fairview. Her family later moved there in 1984.

Carol has worked with ArtSpace since 2001 as a classroom volunteer, member of the Board of Directors and past president of the PTO. She later joined the staff of the school.

In 2008, Carol became the system administrator for the school, overseeing the three servers, 80 computers and more than 400 users.

She lives with her husband, Jimmy, her son, Neal and her daughter Sarah, who is a student at ArtSpace.

Tara Reese (Teaching Assistant) joined ArtSpace in 2005 as a kindergarten TA. Prior to joining ArtSpace, she worked as a pre-school teacher and later set up her own daycare.

She lives in Swannanoa with her husband, David, and their children, Noah and Samantha, who both attend ArtSpace.

Heather Cherrier (Seventh Grade Language Arts/First Grade Teacher Assistant) was born and raised in New Hampshire.  She received a Bachelor’s degree in English and teaching certificate from Keene State College. In March 2007, she moved to Asheville and became certified to teach grades 6-12 in North Carolina.  In 2008-2009, she participated in North Carolina Outward Bound's Educator's Initiative. 

Heather enjoys hiking in the mountains around Asheville and watching live music.  She is also an avid reader who cannot walk into a bookstore without adding to her large, and ever-growing, collection of books.

Glenda Brouwer (Title One Teacher) was born and raised in Charlotte and earned her B.S. from Columbia International University in SC and her M.A. in Human Resource Leadership from Azusa Pacific University in CA. She has a N.C. teaching license and has taught in Mercer County, WV, Manila, Philippines and Buncombe County Schools. She joined ArtSpace in 2008.

Glenda lives with her husband, Edward, and three children - Natalie, Rachel and Matthew - all of whom share her love of reading.

Stephanie Wallace (Special Programs Coordinator) has worked at ArtSpace for several years as a substitute teacher and coordinator of the after-care program at the school. In 2007, she began working full-time. In 2008, her role expanded to include leading school testing in addition to her other duties.

She previously worked as a Residence Director at Warren Wilson College, taught ESL in France and taught French to adults and children in her hometown of Louisville, KY. She loves to garden, travel and cook. She lives with her husband, Adam, in West Asheville.

Sue Cummings (Teaching Assistant) has been involved with ArtSpace as a parent, volunteer and a substitute teacher since 2001. Currently she works part-time assisting the middle-school teachers. Sue has two daughters who have attended ArtSpace. She lives with her daughters and husband in West Asheville.

Jane Horning (Office Manager) was born and raised in St. Petersburg, FL. She left to attend Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL, where she received a B.S. in Business Education. She worked at SouthTrust Bank eventually becoming the Director of Human Resources.

She has enjoyed diversity in her career working with a television production company and as a household manager for an estate in Tierra Verde, FL. Jane lives with her husband, Tony, and her daughter, Elizabeth, in Black Mountain. Her son, Jacob, is currently serving in the Marines.

Juliana Caldwell (Student Information Coordinator) received her B.A. from Carson-Newman College in Tennessee. She moved to Asheville in 1992, and joined ArtSpace in 2005.

In 2007, Juliana began working specifically with the enrollment process and all student information at ArtSpace.

She enjoys reading, walking, practicing Tai Chi, making masks and spending time with her husband and two children, Hannah and Josh.

Stacy Lynch (Administrative Assistant) was born in Philadelphia, and grew up in Lancaster County, PA. She has lived in Asheville for seven years, and has a B.A. in Political Science from UNC-A. Stacy enjoys cooking, eating, yoga, and hiking and camping in our beautiful mountains. This past summer, Stacy and her long-time best friend founded Cozy Catering, a full service catering company. Stacy’s favorite part of her job is getting to know all of the awesome ArtSpace students- they always brighten her day!

Adina Arden-Cooper (School Counselor) grew up in Buffalo, NY, where she received her undergraduate degree in English and Photography. She migrated to Western North Carolina in 1999, and began working with the AmeriCorps program Project POWER, tutoring children in literacy and teaching conflict resolution, anger management and service learning. She earned her Master's Degree in School Counseling from Western Carolina University in 2003 and her Licensed Professional Counselor in 2006. She worked for several years as a school counselor in Yancey County and as a school-based therapist.

Adina enjoys writing, painting, reading, music and the outdoors. Her greatest joy and most notable accomplishment is being a mom to her two sons.

Pat Dimpfl (Teaching Assistant) was born in Idaho, raised in NY, and has lived in PA, CA and Germany. Pat went to public school, sang in a local punk-rock band and made a series of home-videos centered on a space hero named Capt. Joe. He has a bachelor's degree in Sociology a master’s degree in sustainable agriculture and soil science, as well as a diploma in horticulture and certification in bio-dynamic agriculture. He has previously worked as a teacher, carpenter and gardener.

He lives on two acres of wild land in Marshall with his wife, Heather, and son, Elder Marcus. Pat enjoys studying plans, teaches martial arts and being with his family.

Carrie Koppe (Teaching Assistant) grew up in Glenview, IL, and received her B.A. from Albion College and later her M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Toledo. She taught at Tusculum College in TN for five years and at UNCA for more than three years.

Her hobbies include running, walking, hiking, reading and gardening. She lives in Fairview with her husband, Oliver, two kids, Carly and Owen, and two dogs, Coffee and Bender.

Felicia Buske (Title 1 Tutor) grew up in Atlanta, GA, where and earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from The University of Georgia. She later did post-graduate work in education at Georgia State University. She has taught and tutor children of all ages in both the classroom and in the community.

  She moved to Swannanoa in 2001, where she lives with her four fantastic kids, three of whom are at ArtSpace, and her wonderful husband, Greg. She loves to eat and cook, read, walk, hike and relax with her family.

Vicki Duchac (Academically Gifted Coordinator/EC Assistant) was born in New Zealand and taught all over the world. She received her equivalent M.S. degree in Elementary Education from Christchurch College and taught English for three years in Seoul. She also taught two years in inner city schools in the UK. She moved to WNC in 2008 and earned her N.C. teaching license. She joined ArtSpace in 2009.

She enjoys biking, traveling and exploring. She volunteers at MANNA foodbank and is a tutor with the Buncombe County Literacy Council.

Tami Magidson (After Care Coordinator) grew up in Buffalo, NY, and moved to Western North Carolina 10 years ago to attend Brevard College, where she received her AA degree. She later attended UNC-A, graduating with a degree in Spanish and Cultural Studies. She has traveled extensively in Argentina, Ecuador and Costa Rica.

Tami and her husband, Clay, live atop a mountain in Fairview and enjoy hiking with their four dogs.

Francisco Rivera (Maintenance Engineer) joined ArtSpace in 2007. He lives in Swannanoa with his wife and his daughter who attends ArtSpace.
