The Dinner Party
On November 18th, third grade presented “The Dinner Party” to a very eager audience. The Dinner Party is one of our ArtSpace traditions. The inspiration piece for this piece was collaboratively created under the guidance of artist Judy Chicago. The piece comprises a massive ceremonial banquet, arranged on a triangular table with a total of thirty-nine place settings, each commemorating an important woman from history.
Each year third graders pick an inventor, entrepreneur or philanthropist to research. The night of the event students presented monologues written from the point of view of the individual they researched. Like the original installation, a banquet table was set with ceramic pieces created to represent the individuals researched by our third grade artists. Also on display were oil pastel portraits of the historic figures. Congratulations third graders for all of your hard work.
