A national benchmark in
Educational excellence through integration of the arts

Title One at ArtSpace

What is Title I?

Title I funding began as a part of the Great Society Program of President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965 under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.  The intent of the law was (and still is) to help ensure that all children have the opportunity to obtain a high quality education and reach grade-level proficiency.  Title I funds help students who are behind academically or at risk of falling behind.  Title I resources are directed to schools with poverty levels of at least 35 percent. (Students do not have to be from low-income families to receive help.)  The program serves millions of school children each year who attend public, parochial and private schools.

Our SCHOOLWIDE Title I Program offers:

  • small group, differentiated instruction (specifically in reading)
  • additional teachers and assistants (Ms. Glenda, Ms. Tina)
  • additional training for school staff
  • a variety of teaching methods and materials
  • Title I teachers and other staff working closely together to benefit all students
  • Highly-qualified teachers.  While we have 100% highly qualified teachers, you are are more than welcome to request the qualifications of your child’s teacher.  You may also visit the link below:

As a parent, you’re part of the Title I Team!

YOU INFLUENCE YOUR CHILD’S EDUCATION more than any teacher or school.  Your involvement can boost your child’s achievement!  By taking an active role in our school, you’ll show your child:

  • how important he or she is to you.
  • how important education is to you.
  • that you and the school are a team.
