ArtSpace: A School and a Neighbor
ArtSpace is proud to be both a school and a neighbor in the Sherwood Forest community. We know that strong communities are good for kids, and we are grateful for the support of our families and neighbors. Guided by our Four Pillars—Respect, Effort, Leadership, and Service—we are committed to thoughtful growth, open communication, and being a positive presence in the neighborhood we share.
Thoughtful Growth and Shared Spaces
Over the past 25 years, ArtSpace has grown significantly, and at every stage we have considered how that growth impacts our neighbors. We have worked to support walkable recreation by keeping our basketball court, track, field, and playground open to the community.
Minimizing Neighborhood Impact
We also work hard to minimize negative impact on the neighborhood, especially noise and traffic. We understand that morning and afternoon carline traffic can be an inconvenience, and we take that seriously. ArtSpace works closely with traffic engineers, the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, and our school families to reduce congestion and limit the amount of time cars are queued in the neighborhood.
Looking Ahead: New Hybrid Middle School
As we prepare to open a new hybrid middle school next fall, ArtSpace is exploring additional ways to further reduce traffic. Spark Learning Center will operate primarily as a virtual school, and we are again partnering with traffic engineers to identify opportunities to improve carline flow.

This page is designed as an information hub for members of the Sherwood Forest neighborhood. Here you will find links to our calendar, carline procedures, and ways to share ideas or concerns. If you have something to share, please reach out—we’d love to hear from you.
